Task 1 · 25 %

Translate

You receive drawing A-17 before your first visit. Explain how you would carry out and document a site survey [befaring] of the 18.0 m long façade.

Your answer

Example answer

I take A-17 with me and inspect the entire façade from the south end to the north gate together with the library’s contact person. On a sketch, I mark the entrance between 7.5 and 10.5 m, the planting bed along the first 6.0 m, and the planned public route. I measure the distance to the kerb at several points and photograph the entrance canopy, gate, ground surface and obstacles, recording their locations. The 4.2 m measurement in the assignment is information to be checked, not proof that the scaffolding and route will fit. I also note what I cannot establish: the load-bearing capacity beneath the paving, the location of the utility culvert, and a suitable scaffold configuration. I send the findings to the supervisor and designer for clarification before the scaffold layout is decided.

Task 2 · 25 %

The supervisor proposes placing scaffold standards [spir] by the planting bed and unloading at the north gate. Assess the risks of the proposal using the case information.

Your answer

Example answer

The planting bed along the first 6.0 m is not documented as a load-bearing surface. I would not approve placing scaffold standards [spir] there based on a visual impression; the ground surface and load distribution must be clarified in the documented solution. At the entrance, we must draw a continuous public route with the project’s required clear width of 1.8 m and examine whether the work, barriers and entrance canopy conflict with it. The north gate is 2.8 m wide, while some components are 6.0 m long. The width alone does not show whether transport and unloading can take place safely. I propose inspecting the vehicle route and unloading area, keeping the public separate from the movement of materials, and stopping unloading or scaffold setup if the necessary ground documentation or safe separation is lacking.
