Task 1 · 25 %

Bruk planlagt mating 24 tonn per time og spylevann 12 kubikkmeter per time.

Plan the start-up when the spray nozzle inspection has been verbally reported as complete, but the work order has not been signed off. Use the planned feed rate of 24 tonnes per hour and spray-water flow rate of 12 cubic metres per hour.

Example answer

I do not start the line based only on a verbal report. First, I check with the person responsible for the work order whether the nozzle inspection is complete, tools have been removed and the plant has been released under the local procedure. I then check that the screen, chutes, conveyors and spray water are ready, and that relevant instruments show credible values. Start-up follows the sequence specified in the procedure so the material has an open route through the plant. During ramp-up, I monitor both feed and water flow against the planned values of 24 tonnes per hour and 12 cubic metres per hour. I enter the time, readings and any clarifications in the operating log.

Task 2 · 25 %

The laboratory requests a planned shutdown to take a sample from the product stream. Explain the start and stop sequence for the screening line with a mineral feed rate of 24 tonnes per hour and spray-water flow of 12 cubic metres per hour.

Your answer

Example answer

This is a planned shutdown, not a reason to use the emergency stop. I agree a time with the laboratory and follow the plant's sequence for controlled shutdown. Normally, the mineral feed must stop before downstream equipment is stopped so that chutes and the screen are not left full. How the spray water and conveyors are stopped is determined by the local procedure. I confirm on the display and at permitted observation points that material flow has stopped, and record the final readings. Sampling takes place according to the applicable work procedure. Before restarting, the area must be released, equipment and instruments must be ready, and the start sequence must be followed again. An immediate hazard would instead require the notification and emergency procedures.
